Pump Basics
For those interested or planning on transitioning to an insulin pump: After completion of this course, a physician review and RX is needed to start the Pre-Pump Class.

S.M.A.R.T.I.E.S
S.M.A.R.T.I.E.S. is a special class that provides education to the newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetes CHOC patients and their families. Here you will learn about the basic skills and principles of safely managing Type 1 diabetes as a follow up to the hospital education. This class is taught by CHOC RN/CDE clinical staff.
Caregivers
For those that care for children living with Type 1 diabetes. The class covers the basics of Type 1 diabetes management, high/low blood sugar intervention, and much more. This class is taught by CHOC clinical staff.

Topics covered are DMV legal aspects of driving, physician obligations and your responsibilities. Parents, drivers and potential drivers from 15 to 19 years old are encouraged to attend. Make meal planning easier by balancing the carbohydrates you eat with insulin and exercise. This class will be geared for the newly diagnosed patients and those that need a refresher.
